Scouts, believe in preparing young people with skills for life. They bring communities together and contribute to society. Above all, they aim to build better futures. Scouts was the first step on a journey that led Tim to becoming an astronaut, so he is immensely proud to represent them as an ambassador. ‘With the right skills, anything is possible.’
As the first honorary UK STEM Ambassador, Tim helps to support the 35,000 UK STEM Ambassadors who voluntarily give their time, enthusiasm and commitment to encourage young people in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). This community includes apprentices, zoologists, climate change scientists, engineers, farmers, designers, geologists, nuclear physicists, architects, physicists, pharmacists and energy analysts – and now an astronaut!
Established in 1976 by HRH The Prince of Wales, The Prince’s Trust is open to young people aged 11 to 30 from all over the UK who need support, whatever their background. It works to provide free courses, grants and mentoring opportunities to help inspire young people, build their confidence and start a career. As an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust, Tim helps to highlight the work they do to create opportunities for young people to acquire new skills.
